Usually I select my tracks from the vast sea of music websites, directories and blogs, but not today. I found Rajan taking the commendable step of peddling his own music through social media and unlike many like minded artists, it was worth a listen.
‘Amy’ is a gentle acoustic love song with an honest simplicity. The track is well constructed and well performed by the soulful Rajan Chelliah and his tale of infatuation is made all the more powerful due to it’s biographical nature. Chelliah begins the seduction with a flickering guitar intro which is soon enhanced by his relaxed and somewhat gravely tones. The song retains it’s thoughtful and delicate nature throughout, only breaking from the romantic sentiments briefly to deliver the effortless chorus. The track isn’t the most inventive or ground-breaking but it delivers infectious, simple acoustic-pop. As an almost complete unknown it’s hard to know what to expect next from Rajan Chelliah, but based on ‘Amy’, it’s worth keeping an ear out.
