A Brooklyn-based duo with a Midas touch, Matt & Kim continue their uninterrupted hot streak with the first track from their forthcoming album ‘Lightning’, entitled ‘Let’s Go’. A surprisingly relaxed track from the drum enthused electro-pop tag-team, ‘Let’s Go’ is built on a foundation of gentle chants and comparatively soft drum beats. The track is steady and well constructed, with Matt & Kim putting faith in their production and creative qualities as opposed to the untethered ruthlessness featured in many of their songs. The verses are delicate without underwhelming and the chorus sweet but not too sugary, forming a light musical meringue for the world to devour. Like Jim Carey performing a serious role, Matt & Kim show the depth and variety of their work in ‘Let’s Go’ and although we all love both sides of the insanely talented duo, let’s hope that ‘Lightning’ provides us all with a cocktail of crazy and virtuosity.
