After Chiddy Bang’s marvellous ‘Mind Your Manners’ single, a number of you may be wondering who the energetic indie duo were belting out the pop sample that bred life into the addictive track. Icona Pop are a Swedish indie-pop band with a heavy electro influence, Caroline Hjelt and Aino Jawo make up the all-female duet who have recently been beavering away moulding out some bouncy summer anthems just in time for the festival season. The first to rear its beautiful, smoochable face is ‘I Love It’ – a vibrant, aggressive electropop number with enough hooks and drops to make it one of your summer favourites. The song features barbaric break-up lyrics which are harmoniously shrieked over whirling, dipping beats and a pounding base, refusing to give you a seconds respite, not that you’d want one. The energy of the sensational duo is enough to have you keeping tabs on their movements for the foreseeable future, and the impressive focus and captivating construction of ‘I Love It’ suggests that there are exciting times ahead.
